The room in the dormitory where I brought my luggage from the hotel after completing the admission procedure was the first floor of Building G, which surrounds a large courtyard with eight classic three-story buildings called Kirkland House.
Kirkland House is one of the largest Harvard dormitories, and I learned after a while that this summer school was assigned to students over the age of 25.
So, the room I will live in for about two months is a bedroom with a walk-in closet, a large living room with a fireplace, and a bathtub.
Single use of a room with such a luxurious space and facilities was a big thank you to me, whether my age of 60 was respected or shunned.

カークランドハウス・Ｇ棟・１階

私が、入学手続きを終えて、ホテルから荷物を運び込んだ寄宿舎の部屋は、カークランドハウスと呼ばれる古典的な８棟の３階建ての建物が広い中庭を囲むＧ棟の１階だった。
カークランドハウスは、数あるハーバードの寄宿舎の中でも、最も規模が大きく、今回のサマースクールでは２５歳以上の学生に割り当てられた事をしばらくして私は知った。
で、私がこれから約2ヶ月暮らす部屋は、ウオークインクローゼット付のベッドルームと暖炉付の広いリビングルームにバスタブ。
これだけの贅沢な空間と設備を備えた部屋がシングルユースとは、６０歳という私の年齢が尊重されたにしろ、敬遠されたにしろ、私にとっては大いに有り難いことだった。
