The dormitory fee includes food, and the place where we eat three times a day is the cafeteria in the Annenberg Hall, which is a remodeled classic large church, a 10-minute walk from Kirkland House.
The exterior of the Annenberg Hall has a high spire and colorful stained glass, and the interior has a magnificent atmosphere with fantastic lights leaking from the stained glass and luxurious chandeliers.
As expected, America, an agricultural powerhouse, has abundant ingredients and menus such as meat, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, grains, and even at the salad bar alone, there are always more than 20 types of vegetables, fruits, various beans, ham, cheese, tofu, etc.
From the variety of dishes prepared by the kitchen staff, taking into account the eating habits and religious disciplines of the students who participated, I reaffirmed that Harvard University has a magnetic force that attracts students from all over the world.
What made me happy at such a cafeteria was that dairy products such as milk, ice cream, and yogurt were much more delicious than in Japan, and I could drink as much as I wanted and eat as much as I wanted without worrying about the price.

１日３食はカフェテリアで

寮費には食費も含まれていて、私達が１日３回の食事を摂る場所は、カークランドハウスから徒歩１０分の、古典的な大教会を改造したアネンバーグホール内のたカフェテリア。
アネンバーグホールの外観は高い尖塔にカラフルなステンド・グラス、そして内部はステンド・グラスから洩れる幻想的な明かりと豪華なシャンデリアが荘厳な雰囲気をかもしている。
さすがに農業大国アメリカ、肉・野菜・果物・乳製品・穀類と食材もメニューも豊富で、サラダバーだけでも、野菜・果物、各種の豆、ハム、チーズ、豆腐などが常に２０種類以上揃っている。
参加した学生の出身国の食習慣や宗教戒律を配慮してキッチン・スタッフが作り出す多様な料理から、私はハーバード大学が世界中の学生を惹き付ける磁力を有していることを再認識した。
そんなカフェテリアで、私にとって嬉しかった事は、牛乳、アイスクリーム、ヨーグルトなど乳製品が日本よりも格段に美味しく、いちいち値段を気にすることなく、飲みたいだけ飲み、食べたいだけ食べられる事だった。
