Coffee time was set at the cafe of Hotel Sacher for sightseeing in Vienna.
When our members, led by a tour conductor, sat down in a luxuriously decorated cafe, Wiener Coffee and Sachertorte lined up at our table without having to look through the menu (probably unreadable).
When the trip to Europe became established among Japanese people, the trend that "If you go to Vienna, you should taste Winna coffee and Sachertorte" spread through the media, and Winna coffee was popular at fashionable cafes in Tokyo.
Since it was our trip to Vienna in the midst of such a trend, I think that the concept of "Winna coffee for Japanese tourists" was born between Japanese and Vienna tourism companies. I was guessing at my own discretion.
And it was two years later that I learned that there was no such menu as Winna Coffee in Vienna.
The image is not a Winna coffee, but a reminder of the cafe au lait served at a B & B breakfast in Paris.
ウィーン市内観光にはホテル・ザッハーのカフェでのコーヒータイムが設定されていた。
ツアーコンダクターに引率された私たちメンバーが豪華な内装のカフェに着席すると、メニュー（多分読むことは出来ない）に目を通すまでもなく私たちのテーブルにウィンナ・コーヒーとザッハ・トルテが並んだ。
日本人の間にヨーロッパ旅行が定着した頃、マスコミを通して「ウィーンに行くならウィンナ・コーヒーとザッハ・トルテを味わうべき」という風潮が広まると共に、東京の洒落たカフェではウィンナ・コーヒーの人気は高かった。
そんな風潮の最中での私たちのウィーン旅行だったから、「日本人観光客にはウィンナ・コーヒーを」とのコンセプトが日本とウィーンの観光業社間で生まれていたのでは、と、私は独断で推測していた。
そして、ウィーンには、ウィンナ・コーヒーなどと言うメニューが存在しないことを私が知ったのはその2年後だった。
