The topic shifted to class scenery, and Mr. T gave an interesting story as a breakthrough.
According to Mr. T, even though we are all at the same level as B, the M instructor's class to which I, Mr. K and Mr. C belong is slightly higher than the O instructor's class to which he belongs.
From Mr. T's point of view, O Instructor's morning Integrated Skills class has a high ratio of young current students, and most of the students are chatting during the class.
In addition, many of them are not very good at having the patience to listen carefully to the other person's thoughts and putting their own thoughts into sentences so that others can understand them.
For this reason, O instructors devote most of their classes to discussions or presentations.
In addition, Mr. T said that through the presentations and discussions at the joint workshop, the M Instructor's class has a curriculum to acquire writing and reading comprehension skills and comprehensively strengthen English proficiency.
Indeed, when Mr. T said so, I understood why the young students in the joint workshop in the afternoon did not listen to the opinions of others and only developed their own opinions.
From my point of view, most of them don't have the patience to listen carefully to someone who thinks and speaks slowly.
Come to think of it, on June 29, after the level placement test was over, we B-level students were gathered in a separate room, and without any prior notice, we were asked to write a free-theme essay within the time limit of 25 minutes. I was belatedly convinced that this was the case.
This café talk, the coffee was delicious, and it was a good opportunity for me to exchange information in a relaxed mood.

カフェ談義（２）レベルＢの２クラス比較

話題は授業風景に移り、突破口としてMr.Ｔは興味深い話しをしてくれた。
Mr.Ｔによれば、同じレベルＢでも、私とMr.ＫとMr.Ｃが属するＭインストラクターのクラスは、彼の属するＯインストラクターのクラスよりもレベルが少し高いと。
Mr.Ｔから見たＯインストラクターの午前のインテグレーテッド・スキル・クラスの授業は、若い現役学生の比率が高いこともあって受講生の大半はは授業中何時お喋りしている。
また、彼らの多くは、相手の考えをじっくり聞く忍耐力や、自分の考えを他者に理解出来るように文章に纏めることが余り得意ではない。
そのために、Ｏインストラクターは授業の大半をディスカッションかプレゼンテーションに充てている。
さらにMr.Ｔは、合同のワークショップでのプレゼンテーションや討論を通して、Ｍインストラクターのクラスが、文章力や読解力を習得し、総合的に英語力を強化するカリキュラムが組まれている事がわかると。
なるほどMr.Ｔにそう言われてみれば、午後の合同ワークショップで、若い学生達が他人の意見に耳を傾けず、自分の主張ばかり展開しているのはそういうことかと私は納得した。
私から見た彼らの多くは、じっくり考えながらゆっくり意見を述べる相手に対して、じっくりと耳を傾けるだけの忍耐力が見られない。
そういえば、６月２９日にレベル分けテストが終わった後で、私達Ｂレベルの受講生は別室に集められて、何の予告もなく、制限時間25分で自由テーマのエッセイを書かされたのはそういうことだったのかと、遅まきながら納得した。
今回のカフェ談義、コーヒーも美味しく、私にとってはくつろいだ気分で情報交換ができた良い機会であった。
