At this summer school, I am taking the Institute for English Language Program, which is not related to credit recognition, so anyone can attend if you pay the tuition fee, but the classes are organized by level.
And in the level test conducted at the Science Center yesterday, my result was B, the second from the bottom of the ABCDE five stages.
I wondered if my level was like this, but I still regretted that if I listened to the instructor's explanation a little more carefully and carefully considered the time allocation, I might have reached C level.
However, I participate in this program not to compete, but to steadily acquire English proficiency while convincing myself, so I reconsider that it is desirable to have a class at a level commensurate with my abilities.
Most of the classmates, whether active students or active business people, pay a not-so-cheap cost, including tuition, living expenses, travel expenses, and temporary career interruptions.
In that sense, for most classmates, participation in this program may be an up-front investment in the future, although it is not related to credit recognition.
With that in mind, I'm planning to have a pension life like "every Sunday" after the summer school, so it seems better to switch my mind even while I'm here.

レベル分けテストの結果は下から２番目

今回のサマースクールで私が受講するのはInstitute for English Language Programで、単位認定に関係しないので受講料を支払えば誰でも参加できるが、クラスはレベルによって編成される。
そして、昨日サイエンス・センターで実施されたレベルテストで私の結果はＡＢＣＤＥ五段階の下から二番目のＢだった。
私のレベルはこんなものかと思いつつも、もう少しインストラクターの説明を注意深く聞き、時間配分を熟慮していれば、Ｃくらいになれたかもしれないという悔いも残った。
しかし、私がこのプログラムに参加するのは競争をするためではなく、自分が納得しつつ英語力を着実に身につけるためだから、むしろ自分の実力に見合ったレベルのクラスのが望ましいと考え直す。
クラスメートの殆どは、現役学生であれ、現役のビジネスパーソンであれ、彼らは授業料、生活費、渡航費、そして一時的なキャリアの中断を含めて安くはないコストを支払って参加している。
そういう意味では、単位認定に関係しないとは言え、大半のクラスメートにとって、このプログラムへの参加は将来への先行投資なのだろう。
そう考えると、サマースクール終了後は「毎日が日曜日」のような年金生活をおくろうと目論む私は、ここにいる間だけでも頭の中を切り替えた方が良さそうだ。
