I couldn't find a tour guidebook about Poland in the bookstore, so to speak, I was led by a tour conductor in an unknown world where I couldn't understand the language, and it was a sightseeing trip while wandering around.
So, my memory at that time is almost fading, but at that time, I happened to carry a disposable camera to capture a fascinating sight.
So, this time, I recalled the memory from the photo that I could confirm the location by collating the photo with the photo on the guidebook or the web and summarized it in the memoir.
By the way, Krakow is one of the oldest cities in Poland, and until the move to Warsaw in the early 17th century, Krakow was the capital of the Kingdom of Poland and was not significantly damaged in World War II. Due to this, many historic buildings remain, and there are cultural facilities such as the National Museum, various museums and art galleries, and the Textile Hall.
It has much in common with Kyoto in Japan. Kyoto was also the capital of Japan until the Meiji Restoration in 1867, and the air raids of World War II caused less damage than Tokyo, so there are many historic buildings that are World Heritage Sites.
In addition, there are many cultural facilities such as the Kyoto National Museum and the Museum of Kyoto, and there is Nishijin Textile Center for textiles.

１９９７年の５月１９日から「ポーランド周遊１２日間」パックツアーに参加した時点で、私のポーランドに関する知識は乏しかった。
精々私が知っていたのは「連帯」議長で1990年の大統領選挙で当選したレフ・ヴァウェンサ（Lech Wałęsa）と、映画「灰とダイヤモンド」、「地下水道」のアンジェイ・ワイダ（Andrzej Wajda）監督だけだった。
書店にはポーランドに関するツアーガイドブックは見当たらず、いわば言葉も理解できない未知の世界に、ツアーコンダクターに引率され、あちこちキョロキョロしながらの観光旅行であった。
と言うわけで、当時の記憶は殆ど薄れているが、たまたまその時、私は使い捨てカメラを携行して魅力的な光景を写していた。
そこで、今回はその写真とガイドブックやｗｅｂ上の写真と照合して場所を確認できた写真から記憶を呼び起こして回想記にまとめてみた。
さて、クラクフ（Kraków）はポーランドで最も歴史ある都市の一つであり、17世紀初頭にワルシャワに遷都するまではクラクフがポーランド王国の首都であり、第二次世界大戦であまり被害を受けなかったこともあり、歴史的な建造物が多く残り、国立美術館、各種博物館や美術館、織物会館などなど文化施設が存在している。
日本の京都と共通点が多い。京都も１８６７年の明治維新までは日本の首都であったし、第二次世界大戦の空襲は東京と比較しても被害は少なかったので世界遺産の歴史的建造物は多い。
また、京都国立博物館、京都文化博物館を初めとする文化施設も多く存在し、織物に関するものとして西陣織会館がある。
さて、クラクフの紹介はここで終えて、私が使い捨てカメラで撮影した１９９７年当時の「クラクフの街と人々」の写真を紹介したい。
個人的には私は３枚目と４枚目の写真が大いに気に入っている。
