そして、私たちは夕食後にホテルの前からタクシー３台に分乗して劇場に向かい、休憩時間に１階ロビーに集合という取り決めをしてそれぞれの座席に急いだが、私の席は５階だったので階段を駆け上がらなくてはならなかった。
その時の私は馴染みのない演目の「薔薇の騎士」で不安だったが、隣の席に座ったボン駐在経験を持つ女性（彼女の夫は１階の高級席）がわかりやすく説明をしてくれたので大いに助かった。
オペラ「バラの騎士」は、ウィーン貴族の中年の妻が戯れに若く美しい騎士と浮気をしている内に若い騎士の熱意に押されて本気に愛し合うことになったことから大騒動に発展する華麗な宮廷劇で、見ている内に私は忽ち引き込まれ
