Diary in Google Translate Retrospect 1995 Budapest (3) Restored city

Budapest, known as the pearl of the Danube, was born in 1873 as the capital of Hungary by the merger of the Danube and Pest sides of the Danube.

With the opening of the second subway in the world in 1896, Budapest has become one of Europe's most beautiful industrial and trading cities with both history and modernity.

However, the city and people were devastated by the Soviet Union's siege of Budapest in World War II and the destruction of all bridges by German attacks.

After that, Budapest rebuilt the Elisabeth Bridge in 1964, opened the Budapest Metro Line 2 in the early 1970s, and opened Line 3 in 1982 to repair all the damage during the war in the late 1980s.

Not only that, Budapest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the 1987 Buda Castle and buildings along the Danube, and the 2002 World Heritage List on Andrassy Avenue, including the Budapest Metro, Heroes' Square and City Parks. Achieved an addition to and a feat.

The above is a part of the post-war history of Budapest that I first learned from a web search when writing this.

Well, was that beautiful royal palace, the chain bridge and the Elisabeth Bridge, and the sophisticated streets of Andrassy Street restored like that after being destroyed in World War II.

This reminds me of the people of Budapest's love for their country and their attachment to where they live.

On the other hand, the reconstruction of Tokyo, which was abandoned by the US military air raid in World War II, proceeded unplanned and disorderly, but the tendency still remains in the formation of cities.

However, for me, who lives in a corner of Tokyo, the city created by urban development without planning and order is a little less beautiful, but it is not so bad to feel the momentum.
