So, in order not to waste the time of the call center staff in my poor English, I prepared an English memo of what I should tell in advance.
Then, when I called the Amex call center around 11:30 pm in consideration of the time difference between the Midwestern United States and Japan during summer time, the male staff responded in English at first, but I When it turned out to be Japanese, the male staff was replaced by a female staff who was fluent in Japanese, and the business went smoothly.
Then, about two weeks later, an international mail arrived at me, and when I opened it, I saw a copy of the $ 50 T / C stamped with the receipt of the Asian restaurant on Newbury Street, where we enjoyed Boston's Last Supper.
I immediately called the Amex call center and said, "This is it," and after a while I received an unused $ 50 T / C and I deposited it into my bank's foreign currency deposit account.
日本に帰国した私は、ボストンで無くした５０ドルの旅行小切手（今後はＴ/Ｃと表記）を取り戻すために発行元のアメリカン・エキスプレス（今後はアメックスと表記）のコールセンターに問い合わせする事に決めて、私の拙い英語でコールセンターのスタッフの時間を無駄にしないために、事前に伝えるべき内容の英文メモを準備した。
そして、私が、サマータイム時のアメリカ中西部と日本との時差を考慮して、夜の１１時半頃にアメックスのコールセンターに電話をしたところ、最初は男性スタッフが英語で応じていたが、私が日本人と判明すると男性スタッフから日本語が堪能な女性スタッフに交代し、用件はスムーズに運んだ。
そして約２週間後に私の所に国際郵便が届き、開封すると私達がボストン最後の晩餐を楽しんだニューベリー通りのアジアンレストランの受領印が押された５０ドルのＴ/Ｃのコピーが現れた。
私は直ちにアメックスのコールセンターに電話をして「これです」と伝えると、しばらくして未使用の５０ドルのＴ/Ｃが届き、私はそれを銀行の外貨預金口座に入金した。
